EMDR therapy for hormonal and autoimmune conditions
Connecting your mind, your body, and the survival patterns no one's asked about.
Does This Sound Like You?
If any of this feels familiar, you’re in the right place.
Hormones & Mood
Your mood swings aren’t just
“in your head.”
Thyroid shifts, hormonal changes, and cycle fluctuations can directly affect your anxiety, energy, focus, and emotional regulation yet most providers miss the connection.
Food & Nervous System
Late-night cravings. Emotional eating. Reaching for sugar when you’re exhausted.
These aren’t discipline problems, they’re your nervous system communicating. We look at food as data to find solutions
Burnout & Exhaustion
You’re functional but running on fumes. You push through, crash, then push again.
Maybe you’ve been told “it’s just stress”, but your body knows it’s more than that.
Body Image & Identity
Your body changed and no one told you how to grieve the version of yourself that used to fit.
You deserve support that doesn’t start with restriction or end with “just love yourself.”

Meet Marizayda Torres
Hi, I'm Marizayda Torres, LMHC, LPC. I help people who feel stuck in the same patterns and don't know if it's their mind, their body, or survival mode.
You've probably been told it's stress, or anxiety, or something you should be able to manage. But something about that hasn't fully made sense.
I do this work because I've lived it. I know what it's like to be dismissed, to feel like something is off, and not get real answers while knowing something deeper is going on.
I integrate EMDR, nervous system regulation, and my signature framework, Pattern Loops, to help you trace what's driving your patterns and build a real plan to shift them.
Let’s Work Together
Choose the support that fits where you are right now.
What looks like anxiety or depression is often your body responding to something no one's connected yet. Your hormones, your thyroid, your sleep, your food patterns. We connect all of it. Then we trace what's keeping you stuck and build a sustainable plan to change it.
Details:
• 45–55 minute sessions
• Virtual (telehealth)
• Insurance accepted: Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare/Optum
• Out-of-network/self-pay: $155
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps your brain process memories, beliefs, and reactions that are stuck in your body. The ones that keep showing up as anxiety, avoidance, or emotional flooding even when you "know better."
Details:
• Integrated into individual therapy
• EMDR Certified through EMDRIA
• Intensives are also available upon request and clinical need
How It Works
From First Call to Feeling Different
Clear, practical, and designed around your full story
Book Your Free Call
We’ll talk for 15 minutes about what you’re experiencing, what you’ve already tried, and whether we’re a good fit. No pressure. Just an honest conversation.
Map Your Full Picture
In our first session, I’ll learn about your mental health, your body, your hormones, your habits, and your history. We’ll build a clear plan based on what’s actually happening—not guesswork.
Build Systems That Work
We’ll meet for 45–55 minute sessions—virtually—at a rhythm that works for you. We trace patterns, use targeted interventions, and create structure you can feel in your real life.
Equip & Release
This is typically around six months of focused work. You’ll leave with understanding, tools, and the ability to read your own system. I equip you to live it—not to need me forever.

I came to Amelia during the darkest period of my life—struggling with anxiety and a major career transition. She created a space where I felt truly heard without judgment. Within a few months, I had tools to manage my anxiety and the clarity to make a bold career move I'd been afraid to make for years. I can't recommend her enough.

Overcame anxiety & career uncertainty
My wife and I were on the verge of separation when we found Amelia. Her couples coaching gave us a framework to actually communicate instead of just arguing in circles. We learned to understand each other's perspectives and rebuilt trust we thought was gone. Our relationship is stronger now than it's been in years.

Saved his marriage
After years of feeling stuck and not good enough, Amelia helped me see patterns I'd been repeating since childhood. She was patient, insightful, and always made me feel capable—even when I couldn't see it myself. I finally feel like I know who I am and what I want. That's everything.

My Signature Framework: Pattern Loops
Pattern Loops are the recurring emotional, physical, and behavioral cycles that keep you stuck. Your anxiety triggers a craving. The craving triggers shame. The shame triggers shutdown. And the loop starts again. Most therapy talks about how you feel inside the loop. I help you see the whole loop, find what's driving it, and pull the smallest lever to interrupt it.

Questions? I've Got Answers
Everything you need to know before we meet.
How long are sessions?
Individual therapy sessions are 45–55 minutes depending on what we’re working through in a given session. All sessions are virtual via a secure telehealth platform.
How often do we meet?
Most clients start weekly. As you build momentum and systems, we may shift to biweekly. My model is focused and high-impact—typically around six months of active work. The goal is to equip you, not keep you in therapy indefinitely.
Do you take insurance?
Yes. I accept Aetna, Cigna, and United Healthcare/Optum.
I also accept self-pay and out-of-network payments at $155 per session. Please note that insurance requires a clinical diagnosis and may have limitations on care. We can discuss what works best for you during our free consultation.
Is everything confidential?
Yes. Everything we discuss is confidential and protected by law. The only exceptions are situations involving immediate safety risk, suspected child/elder abuse, or a court order—all of which are rare and would be discussed with you. Your trust is the foundation of this work.
What makes your approach different?
I practice at the intersection of mental health, hormonal health, and nervous system regulation. Instead of treating your symptoms in isolation, I look at the full system: your mind, your body, your hormones, your food patterns, your history, and your culture. I integrate EMDR, solution-focused therapy, "parts work", motivational interviewing, and neurobiological psychoeducation.
My clients often say: You’re the first therapist who asked about my thyroid.
